September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

Image
This month is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Not alot of people realize this, but there are alot of children in this nation who have cancer. In fact, it is said that 46 school children are diagnosed with some form of cancer EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.   Could you imagine your child recieving this diagnosis? I cannot even begin to. Any parent family who has a child with cancer is truly a godsend. I admire their strength and hope and faith during the darkest of times. I like to think I would be able to handle it but I do not honestly know.   Here are some facts about Childhood Cancer. Please learn them and share them with the world! People need to know! There are eight common types of Childhood Cancer: *** Luekemia *** Brain and other nervous system tumors *** Bone Cancer *** Lymphoma *** Wilm's Tumor *** Neuroblastoma *** Retinoblastoma *** Rhabdomyosarcoma Despite all the major advances in its care and treatment, it is the second leading case...

Toddler Talk Thursdays!! April 12, 2012

Image
Happy Thursday everyone! Today we were going to walk over to my parent's house (they only live a few blocks away from us) but when I woke up this morning, it was raining! Lol I'm not complaining too much though, because it looks just gorgeous outside! The trees, flowers and grass are all bright green and happily singing in the rain! They sure are enjoying all this water, you can see it in their color! :) Lol, I'm done with my hippie moment for now. Here's this week's Toddler Talk Thursday!! This week's topic: Toddlers and Sports! I have written about this before, sometime last year. Coming from a sporty family (my sisters and I have been in dance and swimming since a very young age and Kalvin is into baseball and football), I definitely recognize the importance of sports. Its another form of early discipline and guidance for children, as well as physical exercise. I also understand the importance of starting children early, maybe not in team sports, but ...

Easton and Treyton's Birthday Party Through Pictures

Image
Sorry about not posting at all yesterday. Originally I was going to post about our Easter Sunday but I changed my mind and decided to first post about Easton and Treyton's birthday party. However, I had zero chances to even get on the computer yesterday. Lon got into a pretty severe car accident at work yesterday. He was leaving the parking lot to run some errands for his boss, when he and another car collided head on. Lon was in the process of putting on his seatbelt when the accident happened and he was launched head first into his steering wheel. His car's front axle is snapped in half, so his car is most likely totaled. Even though his car is probably gone for good, we are so endlessly blessed and thankful that Lon is okay. He refused to go to the hospital to get fully checked out (that's my ridiculous husband for you, won't ever go in to get checked out. Grrrrr!) but the paramedic cleared him of a concussion. I could not imagine what I would do if he had not been...

Aunt April's Birthday Party

Image
Last night was Aunt April's birthday party. We had dinner and ice cream cake at Grandma Melanie's house  and we even played some baseball in the setting sun lol. Well I didn't, I just watched and laughed at my crazy family. For dinner we had ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, stuffing and rolls. It was so yummy, but Mister Picky Pants Alan chose to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich instead. Oh well lol, he at least tried a few bites first. Aunt April and her birthday cake I convinced everyone to go outside and play with Alan and I after dinner, so Grandpa Kevin and Uncle Kalvin decided that they wanted to play baseball. We started out in the back yard, but didn't have enough room and Uncle Kalvin sent the ball over the neighbor's fence on the first hit lol! So we moved to the front of the yard. Trees were designated as bases and a block of wood was claimed home base. Jake sat behind home base on a bucket, playing some sort of redneck c...

Alan's Open Kids Gym Adventure

Image
I figured I would take a tiny break from CHD Awareness Week and post about the happenings of my family, since I realized I haven't done too much of that this week lol. Oops! :) We are all doing good. Lon was given more hours this week, which is a total blessing for our family. This means that I can cut back on my hours and take a little break. This pregnant mama is happy! :) Alan is doing good, going stir crazy with the weather. It keeps changing from really nice to snowy. Ugh. This morning, Alan was especially rowdy. I dunno if it was because of the newly fallen snow, or the fact that he knew he had a play date scheduled with his buddy Kelton and mommy Kelsie. But from the moment he woke up, he was jumping and climbing and hollering and dancing lol. Wild man. :) We met up with Kelsie, Keith and Kelton at the YMCA around eleven. The YMCA has Open Kids Gym for members and non-members every Friday from 9:30 to noon. Open Kids Gym is the coolest place for kids under five to come pla...

Today is payday for me, hooray! The day were money moves in and out of my account so quick you wouldn't believe it! :P Nah lol, it is still a good day. Make sure to tune in later for my second installment of American Camping Week, it is very exciting and eventful! It is also going to be another hot one today. We were all woken up with the sun this morning, because the heat came along with it. Can you say water park???? :) We might take Alan to Terry before I go to work. Here's Toddler Talk Thursdays! This week's topic: What is your toddler's favorite summertime toys? Alan is really into balls right now lol. Any type really, he's just been really into throwing and kicking lately. Basketballs, footballs, baseballs, even kickballs. He just gets so excited when he sees a kid playing with a ball. Via He also loves to play with hopper balls now. He discovered how to use them last Thursday and has played with them everyday at daycare since. He looks so ad...
