Sesame Street Live

Image
Let me just start this post by saying that I am SO VERY HAPPY  that PBS and Sesame Street did not get cancelled! I love Sesame Street and PBS for that matter! Lol Sunday we went to Sesame Street Live at the Metra. Grandma, Uncle Kalvin, Anna, Alan and I had really nice seats, only three rows away from the stage! Alan sat right on the end where he could touch everyone's hands. He got to high five just about every character! It was so cool! The theme of the show was superheroes and staying healthy. Super Grover (my personal favorite character lol)  had lost his super powers and needed help finding them. The sung such classics like "Splish Splash" and even featured the Letter K! Together with the help of The Fantastic Five featuring Elmo, Zoe, Rocko Abby CaDabby and Telly, they learned how to be healthy. Alan learned how to eat right, sleep enough in the night, exercise the right way and stay clean. He loved dancing and singing along with the characters. I was so ...

On Easter Sunday

Image
I know its almost been a week now, but I just realized that I had not posted about how our Easter morning and Alan's first Easter egg hunt! They both went so well, but were over-shadowed by the wedding and reception. Nonetheless, they deserve their spot in my blog. I will also add photos as soon as I figure this whole thing out lol (Can you email pictures to your blog?) but for now, bear with me. :) Sunday morning came to find Lon and I toddler-less (Alan had spent the night at his grandparent's house) but for some reason we still woke up at 8 am lol so I made him a breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast that we ate in bed lol, watching Mystery Science Theather 3000 for an hour or two. For those of you who have never heard of this crazy awesome old show, google it lol. :D Here's a photo of the characters from one of the seasons. Lon and I are just obsessed! Via Then we went over to Alan's grandparent's house for Alan's first Easter egg hunt. :) It was made...

Earth Day Plans

Image
I did one of these for Arbor Day, and I believe that in this family Earth Day is as or more important of a holiday. I love Mother Nature and the Earth so naturally Earth Day is one of my favorite holidays. My son and husband share a similar appreciation for the holiday and every year we try to do something (or a few things lol) special. This year we will be busy bees, and not because of the our wedding the next day. We have plans to recycle, explore the outdoors, and dig in the Earth! :) The morning will start off with me getting my mani and pedi for the wedding, while Alan goes to daycare for an hour or so. Afterwards, we will have breakfast, do some art projects about Earth Day, and watch Sesame Street's Love the Earth DVD. (This photo thanks to http://www.growingyourbaby.com) Alan and I have been discussing the Earth lately and how we can help it out by planting and recycling. He's excited to celebrate "Earf Birfday" with us on Friday. :) So as soon as Lon ...

Adventures in Potty Training...

So we've been kinda preparing Alan for potty training since Christmas. As gifts, he got an Elmo trainer potty, Elmo Goes Potty DVD, Elmo Potty books and a few other big boy toys. And everyday since then, Alan sits down to watch his DVD and then I will read the book and we talk about going potty. But now that its March and Alan's eighteen months, we have actually started potty training him. Today was first day and I was anticipating it not going over very well, but everything surprisingly went great! Thank goodness! I've been researching the best way to potty train a toddler since December, and I think I've developed a fool proof way which combines a lot of what people have told me with what I've read in books. My biggest concern was not making it too scary or too forcing it on him, because my son is such a free spirit he tends to revolt a little if I force to do things. So everything I'm doing is not immediate and not too demanding of him (honestly if he doesn...
