Month in Review: April 2012

We had a somewhat busy month in April, with all the birthdays and anniversaries and the outdoor events. All in all, it was a good month for us. Here are some things that happened to us this month: The month started out with us celebrating two good school friends of Alan's birthdays. Easton and Treyton, the two brothers, invited us to their fun birthday party at Kid's Klubhouse. We had a blast! Then we celebrated Aunt April's thirteenth birthday with sunset baseball and an ice cream cake. That Sunday was also Easter, so Alan and I went on several Easter egg hunts and then spent the day with our family and loved ones. April 23 was also Lon and I's one year wedding anniversary. I can't believe its already been a whole year! Then we finished off the month celebrating Earth Day with my family and Arbor Day with a Tree Scavenger Hunt. What a month full of holidays and birthdays! We were kinda busy this month with all the things we had to do. I participated in t...

How My Weekend Went...

Image
I had a very good weekend. It wasn't too busy, which was just perfect, and even though Grandma Melanie and Aunt April were out of state, I enjoyed the time I spent with my family. Friday night was Jessica's Bachelorette Party, Saturday I worked and then had a pizza party with Alan and Sunday we went to Pioneer Park for our Arbor Day Tree Scavenger Hunt. We had a pretty decent weekend! :D Jessica's Bachelorette Party was a lot of fun for me actually! :) I was pleasantly surprised lol. Because I had covered her shift for her, I missed the dinner but met up with them at their first bar destination. Manny's Sports Bar and Grill. There was a comedian in the actual bar part that I wasn't aware of, so I walked in on the show and embarrassed myself, to say the least lol. But I quickly found them thanks to the help from the very polite bouncer (I mean, I interrupted the show and he was still helpful and nice!) and after receiving my Team Bride shirt and my nickname (I was ...

Happy Arbor Day and Five Question Friday!!

Image
Wow this week just flew by! I honestly thought it'd be the slowest week ever, after having just had our wedding Saturday, but I'm shocked that its already Friday! Tomorrow's our one week anniversary! Wow! :D This weekend will be good for us, not too busy but with just enough things to do. Tonight after work, Lon and I are going out with my brother Darren and his fiance for her 21st birthday. :) Then Saturday I have three birthday parties to work and afterwards we will go eat dinner with my parents. And Sunday is Family Day, which is always unplanned but wonderful. :)  Happy Arbor Day everyone! I am displeased to say that my hunt for a place to plant my tree has been unsuccessful, but I am still glad to announce that The Many Adventures of the Modern Hippie Mama blog's tree was planted in Plumas National Forest in Northern California! :) Success! So I can be happy today and just hope that next year we have our own HOUSE to plant a tree by! Congratulations to William ...

What springtime means to me...

Alan's doing better today. I know I keep saying that every morning and then posting twelve hours later saying he's regressed, but I'm hopeful today. He's on Step 4 this morning, and only had two bad blow outs last night. He hasn't gotten sick since two yesterday and should hopefully be able to go to daycare this afternoon. We hoping that he's finally in the clear and will not regress anymore. I really want him feeling good the day before the wedding so that he can enjoy this weekend as well! :) The only thing I'm nervous about still keeping him hydrated and then his probiotic dosage. That's what made him vomit last time, so we are planning to try a different way of getting it in him. Oh my gosh, the wedding is in THREE DAYS!!! That's so close, I'm starting to panic a little lol. Everythings planned and paid for, except Lon's vest and button up shirt. We had to use the money for that to buy medicine and diapers when Alan first got sick. And ...

Arbor Day Plans

Arbor Day is a month away from tomorrow (April 29). Every year, I like to go and plant a tree somewhere with friends and family. The last seven years I've been planting trees at my father's friend's land. I recently came across a website that shocked me. I didn't ever think that websites would have a carbon footprint, but logically it does. So this year, I wanted to plant a tree to reduce the carbon footprint my family's blog makes. Here are the facts, courtesy of Mach's grün the creators of My Blog is Carbon Neutral initiative- Did you know??? According to a study by Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, an average website causes about 0.02g (0,0008oz.) of carbon dioxide for each visit. Assuming an average blog gets 15,000 visits a month, it has yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 3,6kg (8lb.). This can mainly be tracked back to the immense energy usage from (mainframe) computers, servers, and their cooling systems. But last summer, my father's friend's lan...
