The Pregnancy Post: Week by Week!! Week 37

This week has been a little rough on me, I apologize about the extreme lack of posts. Early Tuesday morning, I was admitted into the hospital again for morning sickness and dehydration. Once again, I started having contractions from the dehydration, though this time around they were much stronger. I was given two dosages to fight the nausea and a pain killer shot to bring down the contractions. And thankfully after five hours in the hospital, my contractions ceased and I was able to go home. Miss Anna, you need to stay in there a little bit longer! :)

Here is this week's Pregnancy Post!

How far along: 37 weeks and 4 days

Size of Baby: Almost 7 pounds and 19 inches long or the size of a stalk of Swiss chard

Developments of Baby: Baby girl is shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. Not too much else is happening, except for preparation of delivery day!

Weight Gain: Thirteen pounds as of this week! :D Yes, I did put on two pounds lol! So happy!

Belly Button In or Out: Pretty much out now. :/

Maternity Clothes: Hardly any this time around still. Just work pants and jeans really. I think I own two pairs of maternity pants, one pair of shorts and three maternity shirts. Everything else is my regular clothing!

Morning Sickness: See above, this morning sickness has been brutal with the heat this week.

Stretch Marks: Thankfully nothing new has been found. Anna is dropping now, so I am hoping the stretch marking time is over lol!

Labor Signs: Anna is really low and I have slight pelvic stretching pains. She is also still head down, which is awesome. I am still getting those lovely Braxton Hicks contractions. Then of course, that nasty pre-term labor contractions I had last week. Ugh. Oh and all that nesting lol. Its driving my mom crazy. :P

Gender: A Girl :D

Movement: She is always moving and it is almost always a little painful now. You're running out of room, girlie! Be a little nicer to your mama! Please! :P

Sleep: Sleep has gotten better, but I think only because I have been given bed rest orders by my husband and mom lol. So most of my day is sleeping, except for maybe five or six hours a day. A lot better than the last weeks lol! I just feel like I am getting nothing done ever!

Best Moment This Week: Alan moving to his big boy bed in preparation for Anna's arrival!

What I miss: Still not feeling nauseous or sick. Being able to see and touch my feet lol. You know, same old, same old.

Food Cravings: Dr. Pepper, Soft serve ice cream, Salmon, cheeseburgers, cheesecake, pizza, Laffy Taffy, tacos, Cool Ranch Doritios, Starburst, Skittles, Snickers, chocolate, cake lol, chai tea, milkshakes, Salt and Vinegar chips, grilled cheese sandwiches, and definitely lasanga lol!

Food Aversions: My husband's beef jerkeys, salad or lettuce in general, french fries or tator tots, pasta and most similar carbs, spicy or Mexican food and raw meat. Yuck to the extreme!

Symptoms: Morning sickness, feeling weak or light-headed, round ligament pain, all around exhaustion, the need to pee ALL the time lol, out of breath easily, food aversions and nausea, major forgetfulness, odd dreams, heightened sense of smell, lower back pains, cluster headaches, leg and butt cramps, overly emotional at times (gotta love pregnancy hormones!) and light Braxton Hicks contractions, slight pelvic pains, nesting

What I’m looking forward to: Holding Anna in my arms! That's about it right now! I want her out lol!

What I'm not looking forward to: More blood draws next week. I don't think my iron levels were very good last week.

Here are my belly pictures for this week! On Monday, I have my maternity pictures scheduled with my bestie Jenelle. I will get those posted asap as well! :)

Sophie's Second Birthday and the Monster Truck Rally

Saturday was a busy day for us. I had to work in the morning and was Sophie's second birthday party plus the monster truck rally later that night. It was a hot one, but thankfully Sophie's party was the wading pool at Pioneer Park. Alan, Grandma Melanie and Uncle Kalvin went swimming in the pool while I was able to catch up with my grandparents and cousins. It was nice to see my cousin Ashley and Julie again, it had been since Christmas that I had last seen them! Alan and Kalvin had a blast playing with their GI Joes and boats in the pool and though they were kinda far away from me, I got some cute pictures of them.

After swimming for a bit, the boys dried off and had dinner. Ashley's husband Cody barbecued so Alan enjoyed a yummy hot dog and some Cheetos, which he shared with Sophie. :) Then it was time for cake and ice cream. Oddly enough, Alan didn't want his piece of cake so I had to have two lol. Oh well, Anna didn't mind. :) We sat next to Great Grandma Carol and Great Grandpa Floyd, who Alan was surprisingly not afraid of lol. He hardly ever sees them and usually is uneasy around them at first, but this time he was jabbering at them like it was nothing! I was very proud of him.

Then it was time to watch Sophie open her presents. Alan and I had gotten her some crayons, a Pooh Bear coloring book and some flash cards. She also got a tricycle with a handle on the back (wish Alan had one on his lol) which she rode all over the park. Alan wasn't too interested in the bike or her and instead went to go play on the playground with Grandma and Uncle Kalvin. He went down this big windy slide like six times too! I have never let him go on it before, and was a little anxious when Grandma first let him but now he's a pro at it! Good job big boy!

We left and went to the monster truck races after that. Uncle Kalvin brought his friend Gabe with and the three boys were pretty much stuck together at the hips for the rest of the night. Alan didn't like how loud the monster trucks were but we bought him some ear muffs and he was set. He loved cheering with the crowd and dancing whenever the other two boys danced. There were maybe five monster trucks total, Alan's favorite being the blue one called Big Foot. It was fun to watch them drive over the junker cars and jump off of them.

The funniest thing about the whole day though was that as it got darker out, Alan laid down on Grandma's lap and fell asleep! DURING the monster truck rally lol! You know you're a redneck when your toddler can fall asleep with loud monster trucks driving around! How crazy is that??? :)

Tatum's Hawaiian Birthday Party

Last night Alan and I went to Alan's friend Tatum's third birthday party. It was Hawaiian themed and they set up several water activities for the kids to partake in. There was a water table, a small swimming pool and two fun sprinklers. Alan didn't know any of the other kids but quickly warmed up again to Miss Tatum.

Alan playing alone at the water table
The two of them sat in the pool together for maybe a half an hour, playing with the various water toys and occasionally arguing over them lol. I think Alan finally met his match with Tatum, she is just as stubborn and feisty as he is. She kinda gave him a run for his money lol, which was good because he is normally doing it to other kids. :) They got into several water gun fights too and soaked each other by the end of it lol.

Rub a dub-dub, two cute kids in a tub (pool lol) :D

After playing in the water for a while, it was time for birthday cake. Tatum's mother Heather did a great job on the cake, she made a cupcake volcano complete with dry ice smoking off of the top. It looked so cool! :) Alan and the kiddos also chowed down on fruit and ice cream cones, although I think Alan ate more bananas than he did anything else lol. The punch was also smoking with dry ice, which Alan thought that it made his drink too spicy lol and he wouldn't drink it until I added some water to it. :P Silly little boy! Alan and Tatum sat next to each other like best buds while they ate. Its so cute to see him getting along with little girls, he acts totally different around them lol.

Then it was time to open presents. Alan and I had gotten Tatum Crayola's Color Wonder Finger Paint Set and some Play Doh. I love the Color Wonder Finger Paints because they only work on the special paper and not anywhere else. The finger paints are actually clear too! So cool! It took us forever to pick them out lol, originally we were going to pick her out a Barbie doll but with Alan being a boy, all he wanted to get her was cars. Needless to say, after about twenty minutes of going back and forth we decided to just get her some unisex crafty stuff lol. Thankfully Tatum loved them so much too, she gave Alan a big hug. Then the kids all played at Tatum's play kitchen until it was time to go. What a fun little party it was! Thanks Heather and Tatum for having us! We had a blast! :D

I would also like to take the time to once again thank all my readers. As of the other day, I broke 27,000 page views. Wow thanks everyone! :D If you liked this post and this blog, please click on the link below to vote for my blog at Top Baby Blogs. I guess that they have reset there listings, so the easier for us to move up with a lot of votes lol! ;) Hint, hint! I am now currently at Number 204, but it would be the coolest to get down to 150 or lower before Anna arrived.... Thanks to everyone who is voting for me!  You are all awesome!

Five Question Friday!! June 22, 2012

Happy Friday! Today I don't work so we don't have too much planned, but we will probably go do something fun with Grandma Melanie, Uncle Kalvin and cousin Morgan later tonight. Tomorrow we have cousin Sophie's birthday party and then the monster truck races, and on Sunday we are going to the Symphony in the Park. Busy weekend ahead! :)

Here is this week's Five Question Friday!!

What do you keep a stock pile of?
Trident gum and some sort of smelly perfume lol.

Because this pregnant mama sometimes doesn't always get a chance to brush her teeth or shower, or comb her hair or even change her clothes... Lol in other words, sometimes I stink. :P Trident and smelly stuff usually helps to take the edge off.

If Ben & Jerry asked you to invent an ice cream, what would it be?
I am not too sure on what the name would be but it would have brownie chunks, peanut butter cups and chocolate chips in it. Mmmmmmmm...

How do you blow off steam?
Meditation and yoga, all the way. I meditate everyday right now for about thirty minutes (it used to be a whole hour but with all the preparations for Anna and caring for Alan, I only have time for thirty minutes) and then three times a week (or whenever needed lol) I do yoga. It helps keep me centered and cope with all my stress, plus its has the added benefit of labor preparation! :)

What would you do if you had an hour to yourself anywhere within a ten mile radius of your home...no kids, no hubby, just you?
Do you really want to know lol?

I would probably lose it completely.

I am never away from both my son and my husband, my son is always with me pretty much and Lon is consistently with me as well, unless he is at work. I truly don't think I would know what to do with myself... Maybe take a nap? Or read a book? Possibly a hot shower?? But I can do all that with Alan in my care too. I usually do all those things when Alan is napping so it seems pointless to have him not with me to do those things. I dunno lol. Maybe I am too much of a protective mama?

When you were 16, what was your curfew in the summertime?
Midnight was my curfew pretty much year round when I was sixteen, but that was for different reasons than most teens. My curfew was set so late because by sixteen I was working 30 to 40 hours a week and closing down the restaurant, so I would not be off of work sometimes until about midnight.

Be sure to check us out later to see how our busy weekend went! Hope everyone else has a great weekend too! I know we will, we can't wait! :)

My Weekly Midwife Appointment and My Birth Plan

Today I had my first weekly midwife appointment. I again met with Katie, one of my new favorite midwives. I took my Group B Strep test and thankfully it wasn't all that bad. She weighed me and to our surprise, I gained a pound finally! :D Yes! My blood pressure was good, it was its usual low self lol. She then checked on Miss Anna and estimated her to weigh about five and a half pounds, similar to the ultrasound technician's prediction. Anna is still head down and had a healthy heart beat of 140 bpm. Then we talked about the hospital visit. She gave me a handout to fill out for my birth plan but I told her since this was my second, I had already written my own. Katie was very pleased with this and asked me to bring it next week. Here it is, for anyone who might need an idea what of a thorough birth plan looks like:

Birth Plan

Mother's Name: Jillian Andersen
Baby's Name: Anna Ariel Andersen
Due Date: July 17, 2012

Hospital Admission and Procedures

*Have my support person with me at all times
*Have only attending midwife and nurses present for labor and delivery, please no medical students or other personnel
*Not be induced during labor
*If I must be induced, I would prefer to try stripping and/or rupturing of the membranes, nipple stimulation or any other natural induction methods before trying Pitocin

(Needles and/or blood make me light headed and most likely to pass out. Anyone who will be using needles around me should have knowledge of this and take extreme care.)

*Try to stay hydrated by water instead of IV drip
*Have intermittent monitoring of baby while I labor

*Have all procedures to happen in the presence of my support person or I
*Have no visitors until my son has met baby (whoever is his current caretaker is also welcome)
*Breastfeed exclusively! No formula or sugar water please

*Have my support person and baby room in with me
*Go home as soon as possible

The Pregnancy Post: Week by Week! Week 36

I cannot believe that I have at the most three and a half weeks until Anna makes her appearance! It seems like just yesterday I was twenty weeks and finding out we were adding a little princess into the mix! And now she is almost here! I have been a very busy little pregnant bee this past week lol, preparing for my hospital trip. Most of Anna's clothes are washed, I've started the packing process lol, and my birth plan is all written out. Now to just wait for her appearance! :) This week I have a midwife appointment and two birthday parties to take Alan to, one for his little friend Tatum and the other for his cousin Sophie. Both parties are gonna be around water, so it should be pretty cool lol (haha, I meant it in both ways).

Enough of my craziness, here is this week's Pregnancy Post!

How far along: 36 weeks and 3 days

Size of Baby: 6 pounds and 18 1/2 inches long or the size of a crenshaw melon

Developments of Baby: Baby girl is shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

Weight Gain: Only at ten pounds, but I haven't lost anymore at least!

Belly Button In or Out: It has begun the popping out process. Ew! It feels so weird too!

Maternity Clothes: Hardly any this time around still. Just work pants and jeans really. I think I own two pairs of maternity pants, one pair of shorts and three maternity shirts. Everything else is my regular clothing!

Morning Sickness: Have had it every morning this week. Ugh!

Stretch Marks: Thankfully nothing new has been found. Anna is dropping now, so I am hoping the stretch marking time is over lol!

Here are this week's belly pics! Lol, I totally said I would never ever do this (see below picture) but I am today I guess! Oops! :P

Btw, this is Jennifer Aniston as Rachael in Friends

Well, here is me today lol:

36 weeks and 3 days

At least now I know why she did it in the show lol, to cope with the darn heat! I am loving having my belly a little exposed today, it makes it a lot easier for me to stay cool!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there! Especially to Lon, my brother Darren, my father Kevin, my father-in-law Steve, my Grandfather Louie, my Grandfather Floyd, my Grandfather Gordon, my Grandfather-in-law Stan and my other Grandfather-in-law Floyd. I hope everyone's Father's Day is fantastic and relaxing. You men deserve it! :)

Today for Father's Day, Alan and I made Lon breakfast. I cooked him eggs and sausage while Alan helped me cut fruit and cook the waffles. Then we gave him his gift, new clothes and a homemade card from the both of us. Lon loved them. Then I read Lon Alan's Dad in the Eyes of a Two Year Old, which he throughly enjoyed. Here it is:

Dad in the Eyes of a Two Year Old

What is something Dad always says to you?
Yes and No

(Lol okay, I guess he does sometimes but I think he says other things more)

What makes Dad happy?
A song, an elephant, a Transformer and a car

(I understand the song, Transformer and car but the elephant? Sounds more like Mama)

How does your Dad make you laugh?
Makes funny faces

(Well, he does do that a lot)

What was your Dad like as a child?
He was like me and Dad!

(Yes, I'd buy that he was like you when he was little but himself lol?)

How old is your Dad?
Three, just like me!

(Wait, you aren't three yet lol)

If your Dad were a character, who would he be?
Like Alan

(Lol you are definitely a character Alan)

What is his favorite thing to do?
Color cars, spiders and ghosts

(Maybe that's his favorite thing to do with you, little man)

If your Dad becomes famous, what will it be for?
Building a robot to smash cars

(This one is pretty close lol, Lon wishes to become a famous inventor)

What does your Dad do for a job?
A house

(I'm not even sure about this one lol, Lon works at a gym and a restaurant)

What do you and your Dad do together?
Ride in the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse rocket ship!

(What lol? Quite the imagination!)

How are you and your Dad the same?
Our haircuts

(Well you both got your hair cut pretty dang short around the same time, but I was thinking of a few other similarities)

How are you and your Dad different?
His feet!

(Hold on, how are your feet different? They are always both stinky lol)

How do you know your Dad loves you?
Hugs and I love Dad too!

(This one is so sweet...)

What does your Dad like most about your Mom?
Her car

(Gee thanks lol, except I know that this one is totally wrong. Lon hates my car lol)

How old was your Dad when you were born?
A baby, just like you and me!

(So you are telling me that we were all babies when you were born lol? Somedays I wonder...)

I hope that all you dads (and single mamas too) have a wonderful day with your children today. Remember, the best gift your children can give you is their love. And they give it to you every single day, without fail. :) Happy Father's Day everyone!!!

Ultrasound Update

I had my ultrasound yesterday morning bright and early at 8:50. I was a little exhausted and a little nervous lol, but excited to see Miss Anna. On the way into the appointment, I ran into my cousin Blake. He works at the building where my appointment was. It was nice to see him, since I hadn't seen him since my baby shower. He hugged me and told me to call him asap when I go into labor. His girlfriend and he are very excited for Anna's arrival lol. :)

Anna's 4D shot of her little face
The technician measured all of Anna (and yes, she still is an Anna lol, I had her check) to double check that she was up with her gestational age and thankfully, she only measured a couple days behind, which the technician said was no concern. Anna's heartbeat was a healthy 136 bpm, right where it should be now. And then she took a couple pictures for me. Anna was sleeping so they were pretty easy to get, except she had her arm over her face and wouldn't move it no matter what lol. The technician even had me switch sides in hopes that she would move it, but no luck. :) Stubborn girl!

The 3D shot of her face
After the 4D pictures, she took a few more for my midwives of the so-called "boring stuff" like the umbilical cord and the placenta. She said those looked good as well and that Anna had a healthy amount of fluid around her still. Then came the Movement Test. The technician gave Anna fifteen minutes to wake up before she would have to use this thing called the Buzzer. Thankfully, I never had to experience it lol because Anna woke up with five minutes to spare. The other part of the test required her to make two body wiggles, two leg kicks and to practice breathing for thirty seconds. She did all of this in a matter of two minutes, which even surprised the technician. :) She confirmed that Lon and I have one bouncing baby girl on the way and to prepare for lots of energy lol. I told her that we already know because we have a bouncing toddler boy who takes up just about all of our time and energy. :P

Profile view of her face and hand
The technician estimated Anna's weight was around five pounds and 14 ounces, almost a solid six pounds! After seeing the physician it was confirmed that I just hide my pregnancies well and that Anna is gaining all the weight instead of me. What a relief! Anna is perfectly on course and very healthy! Lon and I are so elated about this, we have been stressing non-stop about my weight gain lately. Yay! :D
