Chalky Fun!

Image
Yesterday, we played outside with chalk for the first time. Alan had a blast creating his masterpiece with Aunt April and Uncle Kalvin. We started just after dinner and continued until the sun had fully set. The boys loved it! Here are some photos from our fun: Alan and Aunt April drawing Alan wanted us to draw a city Not really sure why lol, but we went with it Alan's whole masterpiece! Chalky butt boy! :P Finishing up as the sun sets. Tune in tomorrow to hear about my ultrasound! Hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather! I know that we are lol!

Five Question Friday!! June 15, 2012

Image
Its Friday! This morning I have my ultrasound to check up on Miss Anna's growth, it will be great to get to see her again! I can't wait to meet her! :D I hope I get some pictures to take home, I will definitely post them on here sometime this weekend. Then Alan and I are going shopping with my family for Father's Day. Not sure what we are getting Lon or my dad yet, but I know Alan will help me pick! Otherwise, I look forward to a weekend of fun in the sun. But not too much sun, I don't want to end up in L and D again. Here's this week's Five Question Friday! Would you grow your hair out to donate it? Lol, my family and I always do that. Lon donated his gorgeous hair to Locks for Love when he got it cut last (he donated ten inches) and I donated my hair last month when I cut it too (I only donated eight inches lol). Here is my hair cut!   What song makes you think of summer?  Hmmm, that's a tough one. Probably anything by Jack Johnson make...

Nature v.s. Nurture: Which One Do You Believe?

Image
This morning, I woke up early (as usual lol) with morning sickness. The rest of my house was quiet because Lon and Alan were still sound asleep, so I channel surfed for something good to watch. I started watching this really interesting documentary on TLC about abandoned children who turn to animals for their care taking. It is called Wild Child: The Story of Feral Children. It really got me thinking about the ever old philosophy debate about nature v.s. nurture. First we should go over what qualifies a child as feral. As sometimes referred to as children with the "Mowgli Syndrome," feral children are human children who have lived away from any human contact from a very young age, generally around two or three. Feral children often are abandoned by their parents and turn to animals, usually canines but there have been  other animals reported like horses or primates. In other cases, children are isolated by their parents on purpose, or treated like animals. These children no...

The Pregnancy Post:Week by Week! Week 35 *With Midwife Appointment Update*

Image
Today I had my midwife appointment. Its my first weekly appointment and I thought I was going to have to get my Group Strep B test, but was informed it would be next week. I still haven't gained any weight and Anna's measurements indicate that she hasn't grown in the last two weeks, so I was scheduled an ultrasound for Friday to check her growth. My midwife today, Joanne, wasn't too worried about it though because when she checked to see if Anna was head down, she commented on how low she was. Her theory is that Anna is just already in laboring position. The ultrasound will confirm this though. Everything else looked good as well. Yay! We also got Alan his big boy bed today! My mom picked out a cute sleigh style toddler bed that looks perfect for our big boy! Alan loves it too lol, he is already ready to sleep in it. We should be setting it up sometime this weekend when we set up the rest of Anna's stuff. Pictures to come!!! :D How far along:  35 w...

Happy Birthday to a Beautiful Soul...

Image
Today would have been Rosalie's fifth birthday. This obviously isn't Rosalie, but I think of her when I see this. :) For those of you that don't know, Rosalie passed away at fifteen weeks gestation  on December 18, 2006. She was my first pregnancy and I was still in high school. Her due date was June 10, 2007 and I like to remember that day as her birthday. It is a day of memory for me. Its crazy to think that over five years has gone by since she passed on. At this point in my life, I have overcome any sadness I have over her and am just willing to celebrate her giving me the greatest gift: Motherhood. Because I believe that even though she didn't make it past fifteen weeks gestation, she was the one who made me a mother first. I grew up a lot the day I found out I was pregnant with her and have not regrets since. I do think that I am at a different place than I was with her last year. I think this has a lot to do with Anna's upcoming arrival. Anna wi...

Five Question Friday!! June 8, 2012

Image
Happy Friday! The Andersen family is sure enjoying this summer weather, we have been very busy keeping cool in the heat! Tuesday consisted of tricycle rides, popsicles, running through the sprinkler and playing in the mud. Wednesday we went outside with daycare and Thursday was Aunt April's dance recital. She did a beautiful job dancing! :) Today we went swimming at the pool at my work and it was the first time Alan had ever gone swimming in a deep pool. I was a little anxious but he did a wonderful job! He even let me float him on his belly and his back! I think its time to start swim lessons with mommy! :) He looks unsure in this pic but he had a blast! Here's this week's Five Question Friday! Enjoy! Remember to check out my post about guest bloggers, I have six so far that are participating but I would like at least four more! :) Did you do anything special for your kids on the last day of school? Or did you parents do anything special for you? My son is ...

The Pregnancy Post: Week by Week! Week 34

Image
Monday was a scary day for my family and I. Because of the excess heat I experienced on Sunday I had heat exhaustion, dehydration and nausea. I had to make a trip to the Labor and Delivery ward at my hospital. They hooked me up to monitors and an IV drip to counter act the dehydration. Well while Lon and I were waiting for the drip to finish, I started having contractions. They started out really light and progressed to the point where they were nine minutes apart, lasting sixty seconds each. We were both really scared and worried that Anna was going to come six weeks early. Thankfully, my midwife had the nurse give me a shot that slowed and eventually stopped the contractions. But it raised my heart rate and made me feel unstable, so we stayed in the hospital most of the night. I am okay now, but it was a scary wake up call for me. I need to take it easy more often, which is hard for me with Alan. I struggle with making sure he is happy and entertained while at the same time I am not ...

Our Fun Day in the Sun

Image
Today is another warm one. Its up in the 90s currently. Whoo! Alan and I are spending most of the day with Uncle Kalvin, playing in the backyard, eating popsicles and running through the sprinklers to cool down. Sunday was a hot 87 degrees out and Alan was wild with cabin fever, as is usual on nice sunny days. My mom and I decided to get the boys together to do something fun. After some back and forth, we decided the best place would be Geyser Park. They have an indoor arcade center with laser tag and tubes for the kiddos to climb through, as well as a mini golf course, bumper boats and go carts outside. They also had food for lunch lol, our main concern at that point. :P We arrived and right away ordered a pizza and nachos for the four of us. We chowed the nachos and then watched the boys play around in the tubes and play the arcade games. Alan rode on the car and helicopter rides and then hit one jackpot after another on the games lol! He was on a roll! After lunch, we went ou...
