Today is the first day of CHD Awareness Week. For our first day I will feature Miss Neyesa and her strong son Mason @ Mason's Journey.

I discovered Neyesa's blog March of 2010, almost two years ago. Currently, I am an avid reader of this blog and I care a ton about Mason and his family. Neyesa has two boys, Carter and Mason. Mason has CHD, specifically a type called Tetralogy of Fallout.

Tetralogy of Fallout: A congenital heart defect that refers to four anatomical abnormalities, three of which are always present.

I will only share a short medical summary of Mason's miraculous journey because I urge you to check out her blog yourself. Neyesa is a wonderful mother and a better storyteller of her son's battle with CHD. Please take the time to check her out!

Mason was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallout when Neyesa was 20 weeks pregnant with him. He was born full term at 37 weeks on September 1, 2010. He amazingly only spent a week in NICU before he was released to go home. However, on December 9, 2010 Mason's little heart crashed. Neyesa and her family suddenly were thrown into a constant worry and stress at the hospital. Thankfully after fourteen days in the hospital and a risky heart surgery, Mason was released to home just in time for Christmas. The next nine months passed with Mason recovering and developing with help from several wonderful therapists. Neyesa also prepared herself mentally and emotionally for the stress that came with Mason's next surgery. They celebrated Mason's first birthday September 1, 2011 and it was wonderful. And then on September 19, 2011 Mason went in for his second heart surgery. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and Mason was released to go home several days later. Since his last surgery, Mason has only been improving in leaps and bounds. He has recovered and his development is progressing each day. Neyesa now finally has the chance to simply enjoy quality time with her family. What a wonderful thing for her! :)

I so admire Neyesa for all that she does for her boys. She is such dedicated mother. My heart sings when I hear good news about Mason and I wish nothing but the best for this family! Please check out her blog and show her some support!

Be sure to tune in tomorrow to read my post featuring my heart healthy Pregnancy Post. Another reminder to check out the CHD Awareness fun on Pinterest! Hope everyone has a good day.
