Our weekend adventures

I did not post too much this last weekend, except for my Memorial Day post and my nomadic walking post, but neither were about our weekend. This was because we had quite the busy weekend. It rained all weekend (has it even ever stopped raining lol?????) so we were stuck indoors, but we still had a wonderful time!

Saturday morning I had my last art class for the month of May. We made Memorial Day campsites, Animal Faces and American flags, as well as had our art show for the parents. It was fun and most of those kids won't be back until next fall, I will miss them greatly! :) After my art class, I went home for lunch with my boys (ham sandwiches and vegetable soup yum!) and then we went out to one of Lon's good friend Sean's new folf field to check it out. For those of you that don't know, folf is Frizbee golf. Plain and simple. :)

Grandpa Steve had been helping Sean out with the folf goals, or whatever they're called lol, and Lon helped them put some of them up. Alan and I had not seen the whole field yet, so it was nice for us to get out and run in the sun. However the sun was short lived and the rain came back after about a half an hour, so we went inside to sit by Sean's fireplace, have hot chocolate and listen to the radio. Alan loved watching the fire, and then we realized he had never seen a fire like that before. He thought it was so cool to sit with the grownups on the couch and sip his NOT hot chocolate (we just mixed his with milk). He felt like a big boy!

Sunday, we woke up to breakfast made by Lon- bacon, eggs and toast. It was rainy, which spoiled our plans to go to a park, so we decided to take Alan to the Imaginarium, our local mall's indoor play area. After Alan's nap, we met up with Aunt Natalie, Aunt April and Uncle Kalvin. There was a lot of people at the Imaginarium, which at first was a little intimidating for Alan. But after he saw Uncle Kalvin running around, having a blast playing with the other kids, Alan decided to join in. :) They played for a good hour and a half, and then we got fruit drinks from Orange Julius. Alan loved his triple berry fruit drink! Yum! Then we went up to the FOE for Kari and Ryan's high school graduation party! It was fun going up there and Alan enjoyed playing with Kari's brothers and her neighbor. Plus the food was good, and Miss Kari looked beautiful. :) We had quite the fun time up there.

Monday was a lot more low key than the other two days, but we had various activities nonetheless. We had breakfast, then went to the Veteran's Memorial Cemetary afterwards to deliver our flags and poppies. It was raining, so we weren't able to stay long and Alan was all bundled up. But Alan was able to pick his "veteran" so to speak lol, walk up to the gravestone, put the poppy down (the flags you had to stick in so they were too hard for him), and then do a crayon etching of the name. He loved doing it all by himself! I think some people thought it was weird that we were "drawing" on the gravestones, but when I explained what we were doing to the VFW group there, everyone joined in! I wish I would have been able to get pictures, but it was too gloomy and rainy for any of the pictures to come out right. We had a wonderful time doing that though. :)

After going to the cemetary, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a indoor BBQ lol. We had burgers and hot dogs,  but only Grandpa Kevin ventured outside. We all played inside with Alan, and watched Monsters v.s. Aliens and Megamind. We all together observed the Moment of Rememberence at three, and I was even able to find a good Taps video on YouTube for us to watch. I was going to put it up here for you to also view, but my stupid computer won't let me. Sorry. :)

Then Grandma decided to treat us kids to a movie. So we went and saw Kung Fu Panda 2. I was a little skeptical of this movie when I first saw the previews, but it was a really good movie! Po and all the other characters are back, only this time they're fighting a peacock leader with his wolf army. The peacock's army had just developed gunpowder, supposdly ending the Kung Fu rein on China. Po even finds out what happened to his parents (We all knew the goose wasn't his real dad lmao, can you say freak breeding experiement??), which is intense! :D I laughed and cried throughout this movie, it moved me on many levels. Alan fell asleep halfway through it, the little turd! :P We had quite the fun time at the movies, and it was a wonderful way to close our Memorial Day weekend. :)
